The City of Pittsfield Conservation Commission, in conjunction with Lyon Aviation, will sponsor a free fishing derby for youth 14 and under Saturday, May 8 at the Wild Acres Conservation Area (rain or shine).
The derby will be held 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The accessible trail down to the pond is now open. As there will be limited capacity due to COVID-19 restrictions, pre-registration is required and will end on Thursday, May 6. Participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note only one parent per child will be allowed.
Pre-register by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org; be sure to include the child’s name and age as well as the accompanying adult’s name and contact information. Masks are required for all attendees.
Volunteer support will be provided by the Onota Fishing Club to assist with dressing fish, providing fishing tips and techniques, baiting, and more. Trophies will be awarded to those who catch the largest fish (length and weight); trophies will be awarded at noon. Bait will be provided.
