The City of Pittsfield announced that funding applications for human services initiatives in the city are now available. Funding is for the program year July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020.
Annually, the city undertakes a process through its Human Services Advisory Council (HSAC), an 11-member volunteer committee, which reviews the proposals and submits its recommendations to the mayor. Applications can be obtained at the city’s Department of Community Development at City Hall or by email request to firstname.lastname@example.org. The application due date is Jan. 4, 2019.
Last year’s recommendations resulted in 24 human service programs receiving a total of $223,500 from the city’s general fund and from the federal Community Development Block Grant Program.
Programs and individuals assisted by those funds span a wide range for both services and diverse populations in the City of Pittsfield. Programs include but are not limited to: services for families with children, homeless services, programs for the disabled and senior citizens, nutrition and arts programs, and programs that benefit children in the Westside and Morningside neighborhoods.
The Department of Community Development will be holding three bidder’s conferences to assist applicants with the application process. Conferences will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13; 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov.15; and 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26 The bidder’s conference on Nov. 13 will be held at City Hall in City Council Chambers. The remaining two bidder’s conferences on Nov. 15 and Nov. 26 will be held at City Hall in Room 203. Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend one of these three conferences.
In addition to submitting a written proposal, applicants will be invited to make a presentation before the Human Services Advisory Council in February that will be televised locally.
