Please note the following information regarding the 2018 State Election on Tuesday, Nov. 6. On that day, polls will be open 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct.17, is the last day to register to vote or change name or address information for the Nov. 6 State Election.
If voters are unsure if they are registered to vote, or what address for which they are registered, they are strongly encouraged to contact the Registrar of Voters office before that deadline so they have time to make changes if needed. The Registrar of Voters Office is located in Room 101, City Hall, 70 Allen St., and will remain open until 8 p.m. on Oct. 17 to accommodate anyone wishing to register to vote or make changes.
Absentee ballot applications
Additionally, absentee ballot applications and absentee ballots are now available in the Registrar of Voters Office. A person is eligible to vote by absentee ballot if they are a registered voter and will be unable to vote at the polls on Election Day for any one of the following three reasons:
- Absence from the city during normal polling hours
- Physical disability preventing you from going to the polls
- Religious beliefs
Voters must first complete an absentee ballot application. The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is noon on Monday, Nov. 5. Voters may choose to receive a ballot by mail or vote in person in the Registrar of Voters Office.
Voter registration and absentee ballot application forms are available in the office from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday
All registered voters will be able to begin voting for the State Election on Oct. 22 through Nov. 2. Unlike absentee voting, early voting is open to every registered voter.
Early voting can be done in person or by mail. In Pittsfield, early voting can be done in person at City Hall during regular business hours of 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. As an additional accommodation, voters can come in on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Also, registered voters have the option to request an early voting ballot through the mail. The application is also available on the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s website: http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele. The deadline for submitting an Early Voting application is noon, Friday, Nov. 2.
Please note, however, that once a voter has cast an early voting ballot, the voter may no longer vote at the polls on Election Day.
