History and Mission
The West Side Neighborhood Initiative was started in 2002 by concerned residents of the neighborhood. The City partnered with the Initiative's Steering Committee to develop an action plan to address pressing issues in the neighborhood. The vision developed for the Westside is: to have residents who are of mixed cultures and incomes; be a place where youth can grow up and develop fully; and also be a safe, affordable, attractive neighborhood to live in.
There has been tremendous progress made in the past ten years, with steps from the action plan being implemented under the leadership of the Steering Committee. Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of every month and are open to the public. Please do not hesitate to attend the meetings or to get in touch with any of the committee's members with suggestions. Your input is welcome and appreciated.
